Our Website Gets a Facelift (Fall 2004)

In 2000 I began to create our first website. It was pretty plain, though, and in the fall of 2004 our then Webmaster Edwin Abang, and Communications Committee members Chung Lee, and Anthony Galligani met to plan the update of contents and graphics for our website located at oiww.org. Ethel Grodzins Romm, a member of the OI America Advisory Board, also made valuable suggestions.

Our new homepage looked like this:

Our first version attracted 12,340 viewers.
Soon, over 30,000 people had visited the second website.

In addition to design, our website will became a sophisticated tool to serve OIWW internally by retaining full documentation on all projects, properties, staff, boards, board meetings and children. This internal website for OI staff, board members, advisors and sponsors opened, featuring full documentation of incorporation and registration papers, board members and meeting minutes, property leases or titles, parental death or abandonment certificates, as well as full documentation of our children, including birth and custody certificates, heath and academic record, and regularly updated photographs.

The third version of our website, designed by talented photographer and graphic designer Michael Bierman, will be unveiled in early 2007. Michael Bierman has worked on projects for the 92nd Street Y and the Brooklyn Library, and has also donated his services to create a new look for our brochure series and the poster for our World Congress III. He has previously donated his talents and skills for OI in photographing the children of Aceh, Sumatera, Indonesia, and their successful post-Tsunami lives.
